Google Cloud Unveils New Blockchain RPC Service
- The launch was announced on September 17, targeting the web3 developer community.
- The service is designed to be compatible with Ethereum, enabling up to 100 requests per second.
- Google Cloud aims to support both startups and large enterprises in decentralized application development.
In a significant move to enhance support for developers in the burgeoning web3 landscape, Google Cloud has introduced a new Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service. This innovative tool is tailor-made for those looking to create decentralized applications (dApps) efficiently and reliably.
Service Features and Benefits
According to an official announcement, the blockchain RPC service is fully compatible with Ethereum. It provides developers with a cost-effective and scalable solution to access crucial blockchain data.
The service is geared towards various developers in the Web3 space, from emerging startups to established enterprises. As emphasized by Google Cloud, users will benefit from the platform’s renowned reliability and performance.
“Google Cloud’s Blockchain RPC offerings deliver fast response times – exactly what you’d expect from them,” stated Kyle Quintal, head of engineering at 0xArc.
He further noted, “Given that Google Cloud adheres to EIP1474 standards and offers a free-tier option, we integrated the service into our system immediately and have never regretted it.”
Initial Focus on Ethereum
The Blockchain RPC service not only features a free-tier option but can also handle up to 100 requests per second. Initially, it will support Ethereum’s mainnet and testnets, with plans to broaden its compatibility to additional blockchain networks over the coming year.
Upcoming Events
Google Cloud has scheduled a webinar for October 10, 2024, where it plans to discuss the new RPC product in detail.
Expanding into Web3
This move represents Google Cloud’s latest initiative in the Web3 realm, following the integration of 11 blockchain networks into its BigQuery public datasets program. Moreover, the platform has fostered partnerships with various blockchain ecosystems, including Polygon, Sui, and Fantom.
