Metaplanet Reports Record-Breaking Daily Trading Volume Following BTC Acquisition
Japan-based Bitcoin investment firm Metaplanet has recently announced a record-breaking daily trading volume of ¥50.4 billion (approximately $337 million) after its latest acquisition of BTC. This surge has positioned the company as the 13th most active in terms of trading activity in Japan, surpassing even automotive giant Toyota, which holds the highest market capitalization in the country.
CEO Michael Gerovich Confirms Milestone
Metaplanet’s CEO, Michael Gerovich, took to social media platform X to confirm this milestone, emphasizing that the unprecedented trading volume signifies a growing investor confidence in the firm. This surge in trading activity has also resulted in a significant increase in investor sentiment towards Metaplanet’s stock, which has climbed over 7% in the past day and more than 41% since the beginning of the year. According to Google Finance data, the stock is currently trading at ¥5,060 (approximately $33).
General Shareholders Meeting and Future Plans
The record-breaking trading activity coincided with Metaplanet’s general shareholders meeting, which attracted around 1,500 attendees. During the event, Gerovich reiterated the firm’s dedication to Bitcoin, stating, “MetaPlanet will continue to move forward as a Bitcoin pioneer in Japan. The future is Bitcoin. We are just getting started.”
Over 1,000 BTC Acquired in March
Metaplanet’s surge in trading activity aligns with its increased monthly acquisitions of Bitcoin. In March alone, the firm has acquired a total of 1,115 BTC through five separate transactions. The breakdown of these acquisitions includes 156 BTC on March 3, 497 BTC on March 5, 162 BTC a week later, and 150 BTC each on March 18 and March 24. With these purchases, Metaplanet’s total holdings now stand at 3,350 BTC, valued at approximately $291 million at current prices.
Long-Term Bitcoin Strategy and Global Recognition
Metaplanet’s aggressive buying behavior is a testament to its long-term Bitcoin strategy, aiming to establish itself as a prominent player in the digital asset space. The firm has been gaining global attention not only for its BTC holdings but also for its recent strategic moves, such as adding Eric Trump, son of US President Donald Trump, to its advisory board. This move is expected to enhance Metaplanet’s influence beyond Japan and into the United States.
