- TON price reaches highs of $3.48 as the Telegram and Toncoin community celebrates.
The price of Toncoin (TON) experienced a significant increase following reports that Telegram founder Pavel Durov, who was facing legal scrutiny in France, was granted permission to leave the country.
As of the latest update, TON, the native token of The Open Network, saw an 18% rise to $3.48. This surge made it one of the top gainers in the past 24 hours, with daily trading volume increasing by 216% to over $514 million.
The recent legal developments involving Durov played a key role in driving the price of TON upwards.
Permission Granted for Durov to Travel to Dubai
Durov, who was indicted in Paris for alleged involvement in criminal activities related to his encrypted messaging platform, left Le Bourget Airport near Paris and traveled to Dubai. Reports from a local news outlet confirmed that French authorities had returned Durov’s passport.
The TON Foundation also acknowledged this development and stated that Durov now had the freedom to leave France at his own discretion. In a statement on X, the TON Foundation expressed their delight at the news.
The investigating judge overseeing Durov’s case approved the request to modify his judicial supervision, allowing him to exit France for a period of “several weeks.”
Despite the positive news for TON, the broader cryptocurrency market experienced a dip, with Bitcoin falling below $80,000. However, TON’s price surge indicates a positive trend for investors.
It is expected that Durov will return to France after his temporary stay in Dubai, which could lead to increased volatility in the altcoin market. Traders are advised to monitor overall market conditions closely during this period.
