Metaplanet’s Bitcoin Holdings

Recent Bitcoin Purchase
Metaplanet, a Japanese investment firm known for its aggressive Bitcoin acquisitions, has recently purchased an additional 135 BTC.
The company made the announcement of this $12.9 million BTC purchase on Tuesday, Feb. 25. They acquired the Bitcoin at an average price of 14.3 million yen, approximately $95,951 per BTC.
Increasing Bitcoin Holdings
This recent purchase has brought Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin holdings to 2,235 BTC. This significant increase in holdings has been a strategic move by the company, which previously held 1,761 BTC at the end of 2024.
Back in June 2024, Metaplanet only held 141 bitcoins. The decision to adopt Bitcoin as a treasury strategy in April, inspired by Michael Saylor’s Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), has proven to be successful.
Bitcoin Investments in the Industry
Michael Saylor’s Strategy has also been actively acquiring Bitcoin, with a recent purchase of $1.99 billion worth of Bitcoin, bringing their total holdings to 499,096 BTC.
With Bitcoin trading around $88,670, both Metaplanet and Strategy are eyeing further acquisitions in the market to increase their holdings.
Future Bitcoin Goals
Metaplanet has set ambitious goals for its Bitcoin holdings, aiming to reach 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and double that to 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026.
As the market experiences fluctuations, both companies are strategically planning their next moves to capitalize on the opportunities presented.
