Transition to Proof of Stake System in Nine Chronicles
Open-source idle RPG Nine Chronicles is undergoing an official transition to a Proof of Stake (PoS) system. This move aims to introduce several benefits, enhance decentralization, and pave the way for a more community-driven future for this long-standing on-chain title.
Benefits of the Proof of Stake System in Nine Chronicles
- Improved security and decentralization by staking tokens
- Rewards for players who stake tokens
- Increased scalability and network participation
- Enhanced security against malicious actors
- Potential increase in the value of $NCG token
With the introduction of PoS on Odin Planet, players can contribute to the security and decentralization of the game’s blockchain while earning rewards for their participation. The transition to PoS eliminates scalability limits, allowing more players to join in backing the network through staking. This increased participation improves decentralization and enhances the overall security of the web3 game.
Roadmap for Transition to PoS in Nine Chronicles
The transition to PoS in Nine Chronicles will be rolled out in phases:
Phase 1: Odin PoS Launch (Q4 2024)
- Recruitment of external validators
- Players can start staking $NCG tokens
- Support the network and earn rewards
Phase 2: Block Rewards Distribution (Q1 2025)
- Early stakers receive bigger rewards/APR
- Expected increase in user staking
- Launch of new blockchain games under the same IP
Phase 3: Guild and Reward Upgrades (Post-Q3 2025)
- Enhancements to guild features
- Rewards based on staked NCG and guild contributions
Calculating Rewards with Proof of Stake in Nine Chronicles
Once the PoS transition on Odin Planet occurs, the reward per block will be 4 $NCG, distributed as “Mead.” There will be a total of 12,614,400 $NCG in block rewards annually, with a daily total of 8,640 blocks.
With the new mechanism changes and the launch of new web3 games, the team aims to increase annual token usage to 8.4 million $NCG tokens. 97% of spent tokens will be redistributed as staking rewards, while 3% will be burned.
Engaging with Guilds in Nine Chronicles
Validators will have the opportunity to create and operate guilds, encouraging active engagement with the game’s community. Guilds will receive rewards based on the $NCG spent by members, covering gas fees for guild members using Mead and receiving a percentage of $NCG spent by affiliated users.
Guilds will also receive rewards for member participation in various in-game activities, such as arena battles, world bosses, and adventure quests.
