MetalCore Season 2: Gearbreakers Glory
Blockchain PvPvE shooter MetalCore has officially kicked off Season 2: Gearbreakers Glory, featuring up to $100k worth of $MCG tokens up for grabs for the highest-ranked players across 2 different leaderboards.
What’s New in MetalCore Season 2?
Season 2 is about delivering chaotic sci-fi mech and infantry battles in PvX (open-world PvP & PvE) gameplay from December 17th, 10 PM UTC, to December 31st, 5 PM UTC. While the first open beta season focused on the MetalPunks faction, this play to earn period is all about putting the spotlight on the Gearbreakers faction, a small group of intelligent and powerful technologically advanced humans. Join them in the core free to play MetalCore Prime game on the Epic Games Store and start earning Merit points through gameplay to rank up on one of the leaderboards that you are eligible for by unlocking one of the Season Pass tiers.
The total prize pool is $100k worth of $MCG, which is spread across MetalCore Missions and MetalCore Prime in the following way:
- MetalCore Missions: $75k in $MCG for the top 100 players with the most Marks
- MetalCore Prime, PvX: $25k in $MCG for the top 250 players with the most Merit
MetalCore Missions is a free browser-based idle game playable through your web browser and mobile device. The goal in this web3 game is to send units on web missions. Successfully completing these quests is rewarded with credits, XP, and Marks. Credits can be used to buy the Season Pass, while XP is transferred over to the main game, and Marks are needed to rank your way to the top of the leaderboard to qualify for token rewards. Everyone starts off with a free unit, but NFTs can be sent on missions as well, so by owning multiple NFTs, you can earn more rewards at the same time. Some missions might require owning a specific NFT, such as an Aircraft or Mech. Aircraft missions have an x3 reward multiplier, while Mech missions feature a x5 reward multiplier. You can buy the web3 assets on the new official store.
In MetalCore Prime, you get to engage in large-scale PvP and PvE battles across a beautiful open world. Go on foot solo or team up with other players and unlock various different mechs as you try to earn as much Merit as you can by completing contracts found at terminals in various bases, but also by participating in World Domination events, which can randomly appear at any time. World Domination is inspired by the King of the Hill mode, challenging factions to fight for control of a certain part of the map to earn rewards.
Next to bringing rewards through leaderboards, the start of this season also marks the completion of MetalCore’s migration to Solana, which is enhanced by GameShift integration to help deliver a more accessible blockchain gaming experience.
How to Play to Earn in MetalCore Season 2
If you want to actually play to earn $MCG during Season 2, you will need to buy a Season Pass to unlock the 2 leaderboards. By buying the Season Pass, the Marks and Merit that you earn will count towards your leaderboard placement. The Season Pass can be bought with in-game Holy Credits but also with premium Shards. It comes in 3 different tiers, each providing different perks at different prices, including higher point earnings:
- Gold Pass (Cost: 500,000 Holy Credits or 5000 Shards)
- Leaderboard Access
- +10% XP Gain
- +15% Credit Gain
- +25% Faster Repair Time
- +50% Marks
- Exclusive Rewards available for MetalCore Prime:

Credits can be earned in both MetalCore Prime and the browser-based Missions game. In this case, the faster free to play route is through the former. Simply download the now Solana-powered game through Epic’s store and create your account to start playing and earning the in-game currency through gameplay. As you do so, you’re also earning Merit, which is the point system used to rank you up on the game’s leaderboard. If you manage to collect at least 25,000 Credits on time, you can unlock the Bronze tier.
Alternatively, you could buy the premium Shards currency through the game’s official store page using fiat or $MCG tokens. There are multiple different Shard packs, and considering the Bronze Pass costs 250 Shards, you’ll need to buy the 250 Shard pack for the price of $22 in fiat, USDC, or equivalent in $MCG. However, it is also possible to convert Shards into Credits. One Shard is equal to 100 Credits, so if you just need a bit more Credits to buy the Bronze tier, then you could buy 20 Shards, 50 Shards, or 100 Shards instead for $2, $5, and $10 respectively.
The same account is used for both MetalCore games, so make sure to jump into both titles for free to collect as many Credits, Marks, and Merit as you can to try and quickly get the Season Pass while claiming top positions on both reward-packed leaderboards in the process.
