The exciting world of monster taming in the mobile and VR metaverse, Revomon, has achieved a significant milestone by successfully transferring its NFTs from the BNB Chain to Immutable zkEVM. This transition sets the stage for a more streamlined web3 gaming experience, especially with the highly anticipated Novus update on the horizon.
Overview of Migrated Revomon NFTs
The following NFTs have successfully transitioned to the new, gaming-focused ecosystem:
- Generation I monsters (Genesis Collection)
- Wearables and Cosmetics
- Booster Packs and Eggomon (sealed)
All holders of these assets should have received a corresponding 1:1 airdrop to their linked wallet addresses, along with some $IMX to help facilitate transaction costs. For trading these NFT collections, players can now use TokenTrove and the Sphere Marketplace. Future in-game trading options will also be integrated. Notably, Booster Packs and Eggomon that have been migrated will remain sealed forever, becoming collectible items, while new editions released post-Novus can be utilized in gameplay.
Integrating Migrated Assets into Gameplay
The migration process has been in development since August, culminating in the launch of version 2.7 of the game that enhances player authentication via Immutable Passport, leading to a gas-free experience for future activities. If you’re eager to use your NFTs in-game, you’ll need to transfer them to your Immutable Passport account, as the game now operates on the Ethereum-based gaming chain.
To facilitate this, simply add the Immutable zkEVM network to your MetaMask or TrustWallet app. Then, connect your Revomon account via Passport, ensuring the same email is used for both accounts. Link the external wallet containing your NFTs to your Passport account. Visit the Inventory page to view migrated assets, select the NFTs you own in the external wallet, and proceed to import them. Once confirmed, you’re all set to utilize your migrated NFTs on the new network.
For optimal results, consider completing this process on a PC, as mobile may present challenges. A comprehensive tutorial can be accessed in this official Medium guide. Meanwhile, the $REVO token will remain on the BNB Chain, with no announcements regarding future changes at this time.
Introduction to Revomon
Revomon is an immersive play-and-earn monster-collecting game optimized for VR and Android devices. Since its beta launch in 2021, it has offered players a free-to-play experience on both SideQuest VR and the Play Store. While on the BNB Chain, users could capture Revomon monsters and mint them as trading card NFTs for trade in the dedicated marketplace, using the $REVO governance token. The minting capability has been temporarily suspended until the release of a significant update, which will introduce an auto-minting feature that converts captured monsters into NFTs automatically. Any non-minted monsters captured during this period will still transition into NFTs.
In light of the recent migration to Immutable zkEVM, the development team is focusing on creating and distributing virtual land as a precursor to the Novus update, where monster minting will be reactivated.
What to Expect from Revomon Novus
The Novus update represents a comprehensive overhaul of the entire gaming experience, introducing an expansive open-world map tied to land ownership. Players will be able to engage in a $REVO-based economy, providing various services and earning royalties as landlords, all within a DAO-backed MMORPG structure.
Key changes accompanying the Novus update include swapping out the existing in-game currency for $REVO, transforming it into the deflationary token for landholders. Players can expect to loot various tradable consumables instead of currency upon defeating wild Revomon, alongside earning opportunities through quests and events. Early gameplay footage can be viewed here and here.
This new open world will encompass 1,200 unique lands categorized into 8 distinct types across 11 biomes. The land types and their utilities include:
- Homestead: Serves as an in-game marketplace where owners earn a share of player transaction fees.
- Mine: Provides exclusive mining rights and resources.
- Clinic: Offers healing services and benefits.
- Shop: Allows for the selling of items and resources.
- Gym: A place for training and enhancing monster abilities.
- Labs: Focused on research and experimentation.
- Safari Park: An entry-fee area for exclusive monster hunting.
- Arena: A battleground for competitions.
A total of 582 land NFTs were sold during a private sale earlier, raising $104,760 for continued development. Public sales are still ongoing on the official website, allowing players to acquire land NFTs for just 0.098 $ETH each. More information about different land types can be found in v0 of the landpaper, though some details may be outdated, such as land supply.
This upgraded version of Revomon aims to blend various gameplay elements found in titles like Pixels and Palworld. It is expected to enter open beta on the Epic Games Store in early 2025, following the completion of multi-server architecture development, web integration, audio work, quest storyboarding, and the integration of Generation II monsters.
The development team is also diversifying the Revomon IP into several mini-games, including RevoRogue, which merges roguelike mechanics with a monster-catching battle system for a dynamic turn-based experience. This mobile game is set to release after the official launch of lands, likely in late 2024 or early 2025.
