Zillion Whales has announced an exciting update for their free-to-play card-based RTS, Wild Forest, introducing Training Camps—an innovative feature for Castles that enhances the utility for Lord Stakers.
Understanding Training Camps in Wild Forest
In this Ronin-powered game, Training Camps serve as specialized structures within Castles that enable players to power up their units without the need for Gold or Shards. To access this new functionality, players must stake a Lord NFT, as the Castles feature is exclusively available to those who have staked their Lords. This makes the Training Camps a unique element that is both NFT-gated and tied to staking.
How Training Camps Function
Players can select a unit and place it into a Training Camp to initiate a training session. Instead of requiring resources to enhance a unit, the system allows players to wait for a defined period—determined by the unit’s rank and league—before the unit levels up. While a unit is undergoing training, traditional leveling methods and participation in matches with that unit are prohibited. However, players retain the option to perform other actions, such as ranking up, minting, burning, selling, or transferring units; though these actions may abandon the ongoing training process, forcing a restart of the leveling journey.
Capacity of Training Camps
The number of Training Camps a player has access to is influenced by the quantity and type of Castles owned.
Types of Training Camps & Training Duration
There are two varieties of Training Camps: Regular Training Camps and Elite Training Camps. Regular Camps offer unit leveling up to level 20, while Elite Camps extend this to level 30. The type of Castle a player possesses depends on the rarity of their Lord NFT:
- Chateau: Available for Rare Lord NFT holders; provides one Regular Training Camp.
- Tower: For Epic Lord Stakers; grants one Regular and one Elite Training Camp.
- Fortress: Awarded to Legendary Lord Stakers; includes two Regular Training Camps and one Elite Training Camp.
- Citadel: For Mystic Lord holders; features two Regular and two Elite Training Camps.
Essentially, the more Lord NFTs you stake, the more Castles— and thus Training Camps— you can utilize.
The duration for level increases varies based on the unit type, league, and its current level. Units at higher levels or with greater rarity will require more time for training.
Exploring Wild Forest Lord NFTs
Wild Forest Lords are unique NFTs categorized into four rarity levels, offering a range of long-term advantages. These benefits include access to an exclusive Discord channel with early leaks, opportunities to join allowlists for other Web3 projects, staking possibilities, and game features such as the newly introduced Training Camps. There are a total of 3000 units in this collection, with a floor price standing at 275 $RON (~$421) at the time of this writing.
Updates on Staking
Lord Staking was implemented in Wild Forest in July for the Play to Airdrop Season 2. This feature enables holders to stake their assets for 90 days, earning bonus airdrop points for the forthcoming $WF token TGE and gaining access to Community Round allocations.
However, these allocations may no longer be available as the studio is evaluating eligibility for recent stakes, as announced on September 11th on the official Discord channel. A revised staking approach that eliminates lock periods has been proposed, responding to delays in providing utility for these NFTs. In the new system, the number of days a player’s NFT is staked will be tracked, unlocking various features after certain milestones are met to curb multi-account misuse. Additionally, a reputation or point system will be introduced, rewarding longer staking streaks with better chances of priority access to raffles and whitelists. This system will also be essential for DAO voting and future rewards, possibly integrating legendary Units and skins.
While the timetable for this new system remains uncertain, the studio encourages current Lord stakers to maintain their 90-day streak. Further information will be shared in an upcoming whitepaper that will detail the reputation point system, updated staking specifics, and the tokenomics of the $WF token, including new token sinks and a more intricate connection to Wild Forest’s strategic gameplay.
