Chicken Derby: New Ownership and Future Plans Unveiled
In August 2023, the developers of the play-to-earn racing game Chicken Derby announced their search for funding to sustain development or to hand the project over to a capable studio. Following input from the community, the team made the decision to transfer ownership to Muzzle Run, developers of another play-to-earn game focused on Greyhound racing. Muzzle Run was chosen due to its established expertise in the web3 racing domain and a shared commitment to preserving Chicken Derby’s original charm while introducing innovative features.
Transition to Muzzle Run: A New Era Begins
Muzz, the founder of Muzzle Run, shared his thoughts in a Discord message:
“I’ve always admired Chicken Derby for its pioneering role in play-to-earn racing and its vibrant community. I feel honored to step in and excited about the potential we can unlock. We’re geared up to implement rapid improvements while leveraging community feedback to prioritize desired features.”
Muzz acknowledged the compact size of their team but emphasized their agility, noting assistance offered by community members to enhance the game’s features.
Celebrating New Ownership: The $6K Chicken Run Tournament
To mark the new chapter for Chicken Derby, Muzzle Run is organizing the inaugural Chicken Run tournament. This event features:
- Qualifying Round: Runs from August 30 to September 20, open to C, B, and D class chickens.
- Qualification Criteria: Your chicken must participate in at least 5 races before the end of the qualification period.
- No Qualification Limit: You can qualify an unlimited number of chickens.
If your chicken qualifies, you’ll compete for a share of a remarkable $6000 prize pool over six days, with varying race distances each day. Daily races, determined randomly, will see participants earn points for finishing in the top six. The top twelve chickens from each class will advance to the grand finals, where a separate $2000 prize pool awaits.
Future Vision: Chicken Derby Roadmap for 2024 & 2025
