It’s an expensive coin toss.
A bettor lost big on the first coin toss of Super Bowl 58. The individual placed a $40,000 bet on BetMGM that the result would be tails.
Instead, the coin turned heads, meaning the Kansas City Chiefs had earned the right to postpone the opening kickoff. The Tails had won six of the past nine Super Bowls.
According to BetMGM, 53% of bettors bet on the outcome of the heads. You can bet on either outcome at -105 odds. Additionally, his 51% of bettors predicted the San Francisco 49ers to win the toss.

Historically, coin toss winners have never had success in the big game. The Chiefs ended a winning streak last year in which the past eight winners lost in the Super Bowl.
