Cardano Community Ratifies Blockchain Constitution for On-Chain Governance
The Cardano Foundation recently announced that the network’s community has officially ratified the blockchain’s constitution, marking a significant milestone in the project’s development. The implementation of the constitution is scheduled for Feb. 23.
Clear Rules and Transparency
With the ratification of the Cardano Constitution, the foundation aims to establish on-chain governance that ensures clear rules, transparency, and accountability in decision-making processes. This move is seen as a crucial step towards decentralization and community empowerment within the Cardano ecosystem.
A Collaborative Effort
The approval of the constitution comes after extensive discussions, workshops, and contributions from various stakeholders. The governance framework outlined in the document emphasizes the direct involvement of ADA holders in shaping the future of Cardano. The support from Delegated Representatives (DReps) and the Interim Constitutional Committee (ICC) underscores the broad consensus on the governance structure.
Decentralization Milestone
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson expressed his excitement about the development in a livestream, highlighting the network’s achievement of full decentralization with no single point of control. He compared this milestone to constitutional amendments in traditional governments, emphasizing the global nature of Cardano’s transformation.
Global Community Involvement
The drafting process of the constitution spanned over two years and involved feedback from more than 1,800 contributors across 50 countries. This collaborative effort aimed to create a governance structure that reflects the diverse values and perspectives of the global Cardano community.
Future Elections and Evolution
Hoskinson mentioned that the interim constitutional committee will undergo reelection later this year as the terms of its members expire. This process reflects the project’s commitment to ongoing evolution and community-driven decision-making.
