Tether Expanding AI Capabilities with Open-Source SDK Platform
Tether, the leading stablecoin issuer, is making significant strides in enhancing its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Paolo Ardoino, the company’s CEO, recently announced that Tether is working on a range of AI-driven applications and is set to launch an open-source software development kit (SDK) platform.
AI Applications for User Devices
Paolo Ardoino provided a glimpse into some of the AI apps Tether is developing, including AI translate, AI voice assistant, and AI bitcoin wallet assistant. These applications are designed to operate directly on user devices, prioritizing data privacy and enabling users to have self-custody of their digital assets.
AI SDK Platform for Various Devices
In addition to the AI applications, Tether is also developing an AI SDK platform that will be compatible with a wide range of devices, from embedded hardware and mobile phones to high-performance computing systems. The SDK will be built on Bare, the JavaScript runtime from Holepunch, and will support open-source development.
Tether’s USDT Growth Amid Regulatory Challenges
Tether’s foray into AI comes at a time when its flagship stablecoin, USDT, is experiencing significant growth in the market. Despite facing regulatory scrutiny, Tether recently minted an additional $2 billion in tokens, bringing the total USDT supply to $140 billion.
However, regulatory pressures in Europe have resulted in USDT being delisted from prominent exchanges like Coinbase, Kraken, and Crypto.com. These platforms cited compliance with the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) as the reason for the delisting.
Tether has expressed concerns about the swift enforcement of these regulations, emphasizing the need for regulatory clarity while cautioning against actions that could disrupt market stability and pose risks to consumers. The company remains committed to engaging with the broader AI and crypto ecosystems.
